Learn More"Complicated cataract" is a term used to describe a cataract that presents with additional challenges or complexities beyond the typical characteristics of a straightforward cataract. A cataract is a clouding of the natural lens in the eye, which can lead to blurry vision. When the cataract is termed "complicated," it usually implies that certain factors make the surgical removal of the cataract more challenging or pose additional risks.

A medical expert, like a doctor, is best able to help you find the information and care you need. This information does not constitute medical advice or diagnosis. A traumatic subluxated cataract is a clouding of the lens that can occur after blunt or penetrating ocular trauma. The trauma can disrupt the lens fibers. Traumatic cataracts can take days to years to develop. The diagnosis of traumatic cataracts is based on an abnormality in the red reflex. Subluxated lens subluxation or dislocation occurs in blunt trauma as a result of equatorial stretching and rupture of zonules. Subluxated lenses can be managed by: Removing the entire crystalline lens, including its capsule, and implanting either an anterior chamber IOL or fixation of a posterior chamber IOL to the iris or the sclera using sutures or biologic glue There is no way to cure or get rid of cataracts once they've formed besides cataract surgery.

Phacolytic glaucoma is caused by an inflammatory process caused by the leakage of lens material through the capsule of a mature cataract. The released lens material is composed of altered lens protein, macrophages, and other inflammatory cells that lead to trabecular meshwork obstruction and precipitate glaucoma.

Pigmentary glaucoma is a type of secondary open-angle glaucoma characterized by heavy homogenous pigmentation of the trabecular meshwork, iris transillumination defects, and pigment along the corneal endothelium (Krukenberg spindle).

The Aurolab Aqueous Drainage Implant (AADI) is a valve-less drainage device that's implanted into the eye. The AADI is designed to drain aqueous humor fluid from inside the eye to a small capsule behind the eyelid. The AADI is different from the Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) implant, which has a restrictive valve device designed to prevent hypotony.

Subluxation is an important entity of traumatic subaxial cervical spinal injuries. There is a varying degree of slippage of the body of one vertebra relative to the adjacent vertebra, owing to ligamentous injury and the jumped facets, with, therefore, a high predisposition for injury to the spinal cord.
